MIT SPR Volume V Solicitations
The MIT Science Policy Review (sciencepolicyreview.org) is an open-access, peer-reviewed, researcher-run publication founded in 2019. MIT SPR's primary purpose is to publish accessible and authoritative science policy reviews authored by members of the broader MIT community for dissemination to the wider public. Additionally, MIT SPR aims to be a resource for local, state, federal, and international policymakers who are involved in the creation and funding of science policies, especially those that are highly technical in subject matter. In addition to review articles, starting with Volume II, MIT SPR expanded its operations by including interviews with experts at the intersection of science, society, and/or policy. Interview reports serve as a resource for the current generation of scientists to learn from the experiences of previous efforts in science policy and communication, to recognize the importance of this responsibility, and to become motivated about actively participating in such discussions in their communities.

We are currently soliciting applications to contribute to Volume V. We are looking for motivated authors, associate editors, and interviewers to produce the next volume of the journal. The deadline for applying is Friday, October 20 at 5 PM EST. Please email the SPR team (scipolrev-exec@mit.edu) if you have any questions.

Each review article represents a collaboration between two or more authors on a science/policy topic. The authors submit three article drafts to their assigned associate and executive editor and go through an anonymous peer-review process before receiving final publication approval. Candidates with strong backgrounds in science, policy, or one of the topics listed in the current solicitation are encouraged to apply. After reviewing applications, MIT SPR leadership will assemble authorship and editorial teams.

Each interview represents a collaboration between two or more interviewers and an interviewee. Candidates with strong backgrounds in science, policy, or one of the topics listed in the current solicitation are encouraged to apply. After reviewing applications, MIT SPR leadership will assemble interview teams.

We highly encourage pre-formed teams with article or interview topics in mind to apply. While we solicit for specific topics on this form, we will also consider new article and interview topics pitched by applicants, particularly when a team of authors/interviewers is already assembled.
