Prior to enrolling in MASD Online Learning you must be completely enrolled in the McKeesport Area School District. If you have questions about enrollment in McKeesport Area School District please call 412.664.3700.

Completion of this application does not guarantee acceptance into the MASD Online Learning program.  Once accepted you will receive an email containing details about the online program, including your child's login information.

The deadline for enrollment for the fourth nine weeks of school is Friday, April 8, 2024.

***Students that select MASD Online Learning must remain online for the entire nine weeks.  They may return to the brick and mortar school building for the beginning of the 2024/2025 School Year.***

High school all students are required to earn 10.5 credits taking elective courses. 

All elective courses below are worth 0.5 credits, except foreign language courses which are worth 1.0 credits

MASD Online Learning Device Policy

All students that enroll in MASD Online Learning must have a device to use to complete the required assignments. It is okay to use your own device. McKeesport Area School District offers every student in the district an opportunity to receive a loaner device.

Information about how to receive a loaner device can be found on the district website.

MASD Online Learning Requirements

All online students are required to participate in the MAP, PSSA and/or Keystone Exams. Failure to participate could result in immediate dismissal from the program.

All high school students are required to have a mid-year meeting with their counselor. Failure to attend the meeting could result in immediate dismissal from the program.

All seniors this year are required to complete the senior program. It is a graduation requirement. No exceptions will be granted. 

All online students are required to return the computer upon completion/exiting the online program.

MASD Online Learning Grading Policy

All MASD Online Learning courses are divided into either two or four grading periods, based on whether they are ½ credit courses for 1 credit courses.

Students are expected to complete all work for every course during the grading period it was assigned.  No additional time will be given to complete work.  Each assignment not completed will be given a score of zero.

The school year begins August 21, 2023. All work for seniors must be completed by May 15, 2024. All work for everyone else must be completed by May 31, 2024.

Report cards will be distributed following the McKeesport Area School District report card schedule. 

The grading scale is as follows:
A – 90 – 100
B – 80 – 89
C – 70 -79
D – 60 – 69
F – 59 and below

MASD Online Learning Attendance Policy

The school year begins August 21, 2023 and concludes June 5, 2024.

All MASD Online Learning students are expected to log-on and work a minimum of three hours a day everyday school is in session.

All absences are illegal until an excuse is received.  

Any student who has more than 10 unexcused absents during a grading period will be removed from the online program at the end of the grading period and must return to the brick and mortar school.

Flexible Instructional Days do not apply to Online Learners.

Pandemic school cancellations do not apply to Online Learners.

Excuses need to be sent via email, mail, or by phone immediately after the absence occurred.

Internet problems will be counted as illegal absences. It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure that the students has working internet.

Computer unavailability will be counted as illegal absences. It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure that the students has a working computer.

Any high school student with 10 or more illegal or unexcused absences will not be able to attend the semi-formal or the prom.

Attendance for online learners is taken the next day.
Example: A student working on Tuesday, October 2, 2022 will have their attendance calculated on Wednesday, October 3, 2022.

The system operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The student has all twenty-four hours of the school day to complete their work. The attendance is counted as long as the student does work any time during the 24 hours. Students may work on weekends and holidays, but that does not count towards attendance.

Excessive number of absences may result in removal from the MASD Online Program.
