On March 19th, the Chicago Learning Exchange and Urban Initiatives are launching an Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppressive Community of Practice (CoP) for Chicago's youth development community.
Dr. Bianca J. Baldridge will facilitate Learning CoP sessions on:
-3/19 10:30 to 12pm -- Grounding in Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppressive Youth Work
-4/23 10:30 to 11:30am -- Engaging Youth in Conversations about Racism and Oppression
-5/21 10:30 to 11:30am -- Creating Program Environments that Affirm Youth Identity
CLX and UI will facilitate Reflection CoP sessions where we will share our experiences using the knowledge and tools learned during the Learning sessions and problem solve challenges. These dates are:
-4/9 10:30 to 12pm
-5/7 10:30 to 12pm
-6/4 10:30 to 12pm
The CoP will likely be capped at 50 people. If we receive more than 50 registrations, we will use the information in this application to select participants in 2 ways:
1) To ensure that the Community of Practice is diverse in terms of geographic service area, youth development program types, organization size, age of youth served and racial diversity of individual members of the CoP.
2) To ensure that what you hope to get out of the CoP and what you hope to contribute to the CoP aligns with the topics that we will discuss and our needs for contribution.
The only people who will see the information that you submit with your name and organization attached are Kiara Hardin at CLX, Sana Jafri at CLX and Sara Shanley at UI. The information in the "Additional Information" section may be shared in aggregate with facilitators or funders, but will not be shared with your name or organization attached. This information will help us tailor our sessions to best meet the needs of the group. There are no right answers to these questions.
You will be notified about next steps regarding the CoP on March 11th.
Thank you to our partners at 826CHI, Chicago Community Trust, Laureus Sport for Good, Slalom, Marwen and Thrive for providing input and consultation on this project as well as everyone who attended the CoP Discovery session in January.
