Extreme Events Workshop - Expression of Interest

The OCB Scoping Workshop "C-saw: Time domain controls on carbon storage, release, and transformation in coastal and estuarine waters following extreme events" will be held October 23-26, 2022 at North Carolina State Univ. in Raleigh, NC.

The aim of this workshop is to push forward our knowledge of extreme weather and fire effects on coastal carbon cycling. The workshop will bring together a diverse group of scientists to build a community of monitors/observers, experimentalists, and modelers to address these challenging knowledge gaps across these spatial and temporal domains. This is NOT the workshop application. The workshop application will open in July. This is merely an expression of interest form to help us gauge community interest and ensure that you are notified when the workshop application opens.

Are you currently conducting research on the impacts of extreme events (coastal storms, tropical cyclones, wild fires, etc.) along the aquatic continuum? If so, please tell us a little about it (just a sentence or two is fine). *
The workshop will be in person, but we are hoping to broaden access by using Zoom to stream/record the plenary sessions. If you were to participate in the workshop, would you anticipate attending in person for the full workshop (panel discussions, plenary talks, breakout sessions, networking activities) or are you just interested in streaming some of the workshop talks via Zoom? *
Do you have any ideas or opportunities you'd like to share about new or emerging observing and modeling capabilities, or state/federal funding opportunities to support research on extreme events such as wild fires, storm events, and tropical cyclones?
