At Scents by Design, we change up the artwork each month to feature a different local artist. It's a really fun way for us to connect with the local art community, support local artists, and change up the vibes in our shop. We are located in the Neighborhood of the Arts in Rochester, NY at 728 University Ave.
The exact dates of art shows depend on the way the months fall and availability. You are welcome to list your art for sale. Scents by Design will process the payments for any art that sells, and take a 10% commission to cover the costs of payment processing, etc. At the end of the showing, I’ll cut you a check or send you an electronic transfer for any art that sold.
We have a 33’ gallery wall. Artists are responsible for hanging their work and curating the exhibit. I do not have a hanging system, so most artists are just hanging their work with nails. It’s a big space and I think a lot of artists underestimate how much art they can bring. I have some basic tools and a step ladder, but I’d recommend bringing anything you’ll need to hang your art.
I leave it up to the artist if they’d prefer to have buyers take the art as it’s purchased or if you want me to keep it on the wall until the end of the month. If you have extra art/prints and you want to replace art as it’s sold, you’re totally welcome to! Or if you want to set it and forget it until the end of your month, that works for me too! I don’t provide any packaging or boxing of art.
I encourage artists to include a brief bio, pricing info, and details about their work, but the method and means are totally up to you.
You are also welcome to have an opening/closing reception or a party with your family/friends.
