Step With You Mentoring Permission Slip and Photo Release FA23
Next Step Up (NSU) is a mentoring and tutoring program that where Tuskegee University students volunteer to help BTW students to reach their “next step.” Next Step Up was founded in January of 2010 by Elise Tolbert whose mission was to establish a program that would provide a bridge for Tuskegee University students to interact more closely with the community while providing a beneficial service.

Next Step Up’s “Step With You”  provides individual and group mentoring to local high school students by pairing high school students with eager mentors from Tuskegee University. Through regular conversation and interactions , organic and facilitated activities, and regular progress updates, the program seeks to foster healthy relationships in which mentors guide mentees through everyday challenges as the mentees.

Your son or daughter has applied to be apart of the program and has been paired with a mentor. We need your permission for them to participate in the program and in the activities that we have planned!

I, the parent or legal guardian give my child permission to participate in the Next Step Up "Step With You" Mentoring Program.

I fully understand that the program involves mentors, who are Tuskegee University students who have passed a background check and who have been trained before beginning in the program. A mentor will be expected to talk with my child a minimum of one hour per week at the Booker T. Washington high school or by phone. The organization will arrange monthly fun events for your child to attend. The program is planned to last for the school year and continuation may then be discussed.

I understand that during the course of the mentoring program there may be special group events (incorporating all mentors and youth) and family events planned. I understand that the staff of the Club will provide ongoing monitoring of the mentoring activities.
