Summer CIT Application 2022
Parts and Crafts' Summer Camp application for CIT (Counselor In Training) June 27-Aug 5 @ the Kennedy School
Arrival 8:45AM - 3pm
REQUIREMENTS:
The primary thing we seek in CITs is young people with the self-control and maturity to model to younger kids ways to have fun at Parts and Crafts without breaking the rules. CITs aren’t expected to solve all the problems, but they are expected to never, themselves, be the problem.
While CITs are not expected to be the primary supervisor of kids, they should be kids themselves that don’t require much, if any, supervision to follow the camp rules and be excellent to each other.
CITs should be between the ages of 14 and 17, preferably with a year or more between being a camper or student and assuming this role.
CITs should be eager to work with younger kids - playing with, mentoring and helping them. CITs should expect to spend most of their time actively engaged with younger kids. CITs should expect to be helpful to the adult staffers, even at the expense of their own projects or desired activities.
Active participation in all clean up and set up are required. CITs must also show basic responsibility by being punctual, informing staff if they are going to be absent and responding in a timely fashion to emails. CITs will be required to attend a training about how camp works and the expectations of all CITs and staff. CITs will be responsible for meeting these expectations.
We want our CITs to have fun, but we also rely on them to help make camp go smoothly. We anticipate a lot of interest in this program and it’s likely that some applicants will have to wait until next year to become a CIT.
Read this application and fill it out carefully, and please be aware that filling this out doesn't automatically guarantee you a position. The CIT position is unpaid, and has a small number of responsibilities, as described below, in addition to the requirements above. Please read and answer the following questions:
