French practice for GLAM professionals and interested parties
Hi!

This project was originally intended for Gallery - Library - Archives - Museums professionals in Canada looking to improve their French so we can network and communicate better with our colleagues. However, you do not need to work in the field or be in Canada. Just have a real interest in learning more about GLAM. Students and emerging professionals are especially welcome.

We are running a series of recurring meetings in French where you will listen to a live French speaker or watch a French presentation on a relevant topic in the field (either live or recorded in advance) and then have an open discussion in French in smaller break out groups to practice your vocabulary, understanding, expression, and pronunciation.

Are you interested? Fill in the survey, and we will email you the Zoom Registration links directly.

This mini personal project was begun by conservator Angelica Isa Adaniya. I am grateful to the Emerging Museums Professionals / Professionels émergents des musées Canada and CAC-ACCR. It is currently being organised and run for free in Angelica's free time.

Please note that these are not French lessons. The sessions are meant to increase your exposure to the language and give you a safe space to practice speaking using field-specific vocabulary with your peers. As such, an intermediate level of French is already required. You are welcome to come just to listen until you are comfortable speaking.

Native and advanced French-speakers looking to network are strongly encouraged to join!

We would love to meet you.
