Creative Explorations with Alcohol Ink
Dates: August 5, 12, 19 from 1 - 3 p.m.  By registering, you are committing to all three classes.
*Masks required.  We ask that patrons bring a work shirt with them that they wouldn't mind getting dirty.

This course will be an introduction to expressive painting using alcohol inks. Alcohol inks are highly pigmented, acid free and fast drying. The way the ink spreads on paper is spontaneous and magical.

Participants will be guided through alcohol inks characteristics, tools, etc., with a focus on exploration, discovery and abstraction.  We will be using Yupo paper which is a waterproof, synthetic, smooth surface which allows the artist to build up nuances and patterns that would normally be impossible to achieve on traditional watercolor or drawing paper.

The class will focus on exploration, expression and creating unique one-of-a kind paintings.

Instructor: Marjorie Nilssen, who has over 40 years of experience as a professional artist along with over 25 years of experience teaching Art at Ridgewater College in Willmar.  Marjorie has a BA degree in Art from the College of St. Benedict and an MA degree in Art from St. Cloud State University.  She has exhibited her work in many galleries throughout the Midwest and had a one woman show in NYC in 2018.

Marjorie has a private art studio in Atwater where she creates work in the following mediums: encaustic, oil, acrylic and alcohol inks.
