BUILDING BLOCK 2: Tell Personal and Family Stories
Jensen says that research shows that children who learn about their family's history and challenges grow up with higher self-esteem. It is the best predictor of emotional health and happiness. It helps children become more resilient to stress.
Instructions:   Below, please write down 3 PERSONAL EXAMPLES of important FAMILY stories you grew up knowing and how it impacted you, a pivotal CHALLENGE that you have faced AS AN IMMIGRANT, or a story of a challenge that someone in your family has faced that has impacted you. Try to relate the stories in some way to being an immigrant, or being multi-cultural, since that is the theme of this unit. You don't have to write the whole story here; just tell me a little about it!
