While my child is a participant in the SSHA program, I pledge to:

Respect the Statement of Faith and agree to abide by SSHA policies.

Attend parent meetings and help my child attend required meetings, practices and competitions on time.

Notify the coaching staff in case of emergencies or conflict, with as much advance notice as possible, if my child will need to miss (or be late for) any scheduled team meetings, trainings or games.

Support my child’s participation in the SSHA program through encouragement rather than harsh criticism; I will not coach from the stands or sidelines unless the coaching staff has specifically requested me to do so.

Speak to and treat all players, coaches and referees with dignity and respect at all times. I understand that any parent or spectator who acts disruptive or abusive will be asked to resolve the situation or be removed by a game official, host security, game administrator or coach. Removal can result in future game suspensions and/or dismissal from the SSHA organization.

Assist my child in meeting the SSHA Athlete Code of Conduct.

Appeal concerns through the proper chain of command.

Agree to wait at least 12 hours following a game before expressing my concerns to the coach.

Respect host site facilities; leaving them in a condition as good as (or better than) I found them.

Respect a modest (and common sense) dress code that in turn respects myself and others around me.

Meet my team’s financial responsibilities in a timely manner, including but not limited to participating in any fundraising projects.

Volunteer to help meet the needs of the team. Parents must volunteer for at least 2 roles while signing their child up to participate with the SSHA.

Understand, while coaches strive to provide playing time for each player during the season, I understand that the SSHA program is a competitive team and coaches do not guarantee a minimum amount of playing time to any player. Players are encouraged to engage in these conversations with the coach and will not be penalized for doing so.

Willingly agree to follow this Code of Conduct and I understand that a violation of these rules may result in intervention to determine the appropriate course of action. While it is the SSHA’s preference to not penalize a player for the actions of a parent, egregious and/or repeated violations of the Parent Code of Conduct may result in action up to and including the termination of the player from the SSHA’s team.

Confirm my child is currently homeschooled and has received at least 51% of their education from homeschooling during this academic school year. If my child’s status changes before the completion of the season (he/she enrolls in a public or private school for the majority of their education), I will immediately notify the coaching staff and athletic director. Exceptions to this eligibility requirement will be considered only in special circumstances and individually by the coaches and the athletic director.

*Confirm my private or public school student who is participating, agree to have the Non-Homeschool Eligibility Consent Form signed by my child’s school administration. Confirming the school does not provide opportunities for athletes to participate in a given sport. I also acknowledge that my child may not be able to participate in state or national homeschool level tournaments.
