About the Project
On Being in Your Body is an upcoming IG series dedicated to celebrating, discovering and sharing the unique aspects of our bodies through the eyes of our community members.

Each month, we will invite a few contributors to share their perspectives on a different, under-appreciated aspect of our bodies, from body hair and unibrows to bingo-wings and belly fat.

Through the eyes of our contributors, we’ll explore our community’s individual challenges and triumphs in learning to embrace these aspects of our bodies, as well as delving into the social, cultural, political aspects of how these features are viewed within society. In particular, we want to ensure we explore this project through an intersectional lens; celebrating all bodies, while also centring the bodies of Black and Brown people, and People of Colour, as well as fat, disabled, Queer and Trans, and otherwise marginalised bodies.
What we are looking for
We are looking for 4-6 contributors for each episode of our series, to share their perspective on a specific feature of their body. Each contribution would be self- recorded, and filmed and submitted in two parts.

The first part is a camera–facing interview, up to 2 minutes long, speaking about the relevant feature of your body, including any relevant personal experiences and perspectives. Questions will be provided for you to use as a prompt, but we want you to share as much or as little as you would like, and do so in your own words, in your own way, so there is plenty of free reign around this.

The second part of your contributor submission would be some close-up, self-recorded 5-10 second clips of the feature of your body you are discussing. E.g. if you were talking about your nose, you would video your nose up close. The reason we would like to include these clips is so that we can build a picture for our audience of how each individual’s features are unique to them, and our hope is that the rest of our community will see themselves reflected and represented in our contributors.

All video submissions will need to be filmed in portrait, with a high-res phone or camera. You can wear whatever you like – something that you feel reflects you and your own personal style would be ideal – and backgrounds should be as neutral/ minimalistic as possible (pictures on walls, soft furnishings and coloured walls are all okay to be in the shot, but please try to avoid highly patterned backgrounds where possible – we want the focus to be on your fabulous self!)
How to get involved
We are reaching out to you, our fabulous ADRC network & community, to get involved in this project!

Please note, while we would like to involve as many contributors as we can in this project, and are committed to trying to capture the many intersections of our community, we may not be able to feature everyone who applies.
