Overview
In 2020, SportsDisrupted began as a multimedia movement determined to transform the current culture of sport into one that fully embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion. With thought-provoking dialogue across all platforms, SportsDisrupted works to unpack the complexities of sport by going beyond stats and plays and instead delving deeper into the social issues (racism, sexism, ableism, etc.) that exist within and beyond the institution. Our main goal has always been to create awareness and inspire positive change in the sporting realm.

To continue doing this, we are returning to our NYC community roots and establishing a nonprofit that takes a unique approach to digital storytelling by giving a voice to marginalized groups - the ‘underdogs’, and disrupting the narratives constantly being told by mainstream sports media. This will be done through innovative programming, media production, and collaborative events with other nonprofits and sports-related or media-focused entities. We hope by giving marginalized people, especially the youth, resources and tools to reclaim, craft, and share their stories, we will inspire a more humane and welcoming sports world.
