Granville County Public Schools Device Parent and Student Agreement - Acuerdo de padres y estudiantes sobre dispositivos de las escuelas públicas del condado de Granville
We are excited to be able to provide your student with a technology device while they are enrolled at a Granville County Public Schools 1-1 School. Please note the following conditions of the program:
- The device is property of Granville County Public Schools.
- Parents will monitor student’s technology use at home.
- Despite careful handling of the student laptop, accidental damage can occur. Fees for accidental damage are as follows:
$0 for the first incident of accidental damage resulting in repair.
$25 for each subsequent incident of accidental damage resulting in repair.
$25 will be assessed for each incident of intentional damage or vandalism resulting in repair.
$150 for total loss or destruction of the laptop due to intentional damage or vandalism.
- Parents or students will file a police report in case of theft or vandalism. The police report must be turned in to the principal
within 48 hours.
- If a device is lost or stolen due to negligence, you are responsible for a $150 fee to help defray the cost of replacement.
- If the power cord is not returned or is damaged, you will pay a $25 fee for replacement.
- The principal has the discretion to permanently confiscate the device from the student at any time.
- Devices that are not returned to the school when a student leaves, transfers, or withdraws from school will be considered
stolen and reported to local law enforcement.
Students will:
- Use the device appropriately.
- Care for the device assigned to them and not leave it unsupervised in unsecured locations.
- Be responsible for all damage or loss caused by neglect or abuse.
- Not loan the device to another individual.
- Not use the device near food or drinks.
- Not disassemble any part of the device or attempt any repairs.
- Not place stickers, drawings, markings, etc. on the device and will not deface the serial number sticker on the device.
- Understand that the device and its contents may be inspected at any time because it is school property.
- Agree to return the device and power cord in working condition.
- Follow the policies, procedures, and guidelines outlined in the Parent and Student Technology Handbook and the Technology Responsible Use Policy that is available online at the GCPS Website at all times.
