Parents,  My name is Michael Butcher, and I am GDA's theatre director.  I want to express my appreciation for you and your interests  in allowing your student to participate in the school play.  Please take the time to read through this entire document closely.
Please note that there is a $100 fee for each student cast in the production.  This will cover the cost of their costuming, makeup, t-shirt, etc.  No other cost will be incurred.
All rehearsals and the performances will be held at the Golden Campus.
I assure you that I love kids and want only what is best for them all.  That is why I want to lay out the structure of expectations for you before you commit to your student being in the school production.  If your student receives a role in the production, your student is expected to be committed to the production. To have a successful production we need to be aware of the following:
1.  A student should be at all the rehearsals and performances they are scheduled to attend.  Failure to attend an assigned rehearsal may result in needing to replace a student with another.  With the limited rehearsal schedule, it is imperative that everyone is at the rehearsal they are assigned to be at.
2.  Tardiness is not acceptable behavior; it is unfair to everyone that is on time when another person is running late. It is your responsibility to know the rehearsal times and when your child is to attend. For every minute a student is late, rehearsal time is wasted for everyone.  Not knowing the schedule is not an excuse for missing a rehearsal. The schedule is posted on the website and will be updated weekly if necessary.  If an update is needed during an actual week an email with the update will be sent to parents.
3.  Students must be able to attend the dates of the actual performances. Students are expected to be present no less than 90 minutes before the performance is to begin.
4.  Like any special activity including sports, it takes dedication and practice to put on a play production. Students should come to a rehearsal ready to work. Goofing around and not following directions will also be grounds for needing to replace a student with another.
5.  Students should be familiar (not always memorized, but obviously that will be necessary at some point) with their lines prior to the rehearsals. If specific deadlines for performance are not met on time, the student may be replaced by another student.
6.  If an emergency occurs or you have an appointment that cannot be made at any other time other than rehearsal and your student needs to be absent or late for a rehearsal, let me know as soon as possible, simply text or email me (417-848-0802 or mbutcher@gloriadeoacademy.org) and it will not be held against them.  True emergencies are not the fault of anyone, but if anything keeps a student from meeting their obligations for the play, it may be in the best interest for everyone to replace a student with another; this is only fair to the other students in the production.
Please go over all of the information listed above with your student, and I ask that if you are in agreement that you complete the section below indicating that you have read this contract and support its content.
