In this talk, we discussed the Church.

We talked about the nature of the Church - that is, ecclesiology - and some competing views.
We also talked about the people in the Church.

As part of this, we talked about the defining features of union (that is, with Communion being the sign of unity), and we talked about how we are part of the worldwide Church through our local parish.

How would you explain to someone what it is important to be a part of the Orthodox Church (and not independent, or part of a Christian denomination?) *

How would you explain why we have 'double closed Communion'? *

That is: why Orthodox Christians can only receive communion from an Orthodox priest (and not at other denominations), and, why non-Orthodox Christians are unable to receive communion from an Orthodox priest?
