Rio Grande Community Farm’s Indigenous Urban Growers Scholarships are awarded to Native American growers-in-need who are living in urban Albuquerque, New Mexico and are seeking urban farmland for growing in a sustainable and pesticide-free manner in a diverse community environment. Applications are due by 11:59 pm on April 30, 2024. This Community Garden Scholarship is made possible by donations from our generous Member, Nicholas Sitterly.
Eligibility
Native Americans living within urban Albuquerque, New Mexico with the capacity to care for a 150 square foot garden row who are willing to use sustainable (ie: traditional, regenerative, organic, biodynamic, permaculture, etc.) growing methods.

Access to a variety of hand tools
Routine irrigation for rows
Soil-building components such as manure
Free seeds and discounts on plant starts
Trellis, tomato cages, and other equipment
Hay for mulching
Support from staff and volunteers
