Learning from and living with nature - Experiences from Jakkur lake
29th September 2020 | 5:30PM | Zoom & Facebook Live
For a city like Bengaluru to be water resilient there is a dire need to save our Lakes. Community, Collaboration and Conservation are the 3c’s to focus on when it comes to revival of urban lakes. Conservation becomes possible when Communities around the lake come together to Collaborate with the stakeholders to work towards saving the lake.

The first round of BSF Small Grants Programme included 4 projects at Jakkur lake which had Jalaposhan – a community group that works towards nurturing Jakkur Lake -  work with BIOME, Ananas and an IISc research scholar on different aspects of lake revival and rejuvenation. The projects ranged from running a Nature's Gurukul, setting up a community garden, Citizen Science initiatives and locating and reviving dead zones in the lake.

In this webinar, we will hear about their experiences in building community participation in the process of regeneration and conservation of Jakkur lake and see what lessons they offer for other lakes in the city.
