BMHS Grade 9 Class Selection Sheet for 2020-21 (to be filled out by current 8th graders)

Review the course offerings below and discuss the selections with your parent/guardian, teachers and counselor. Check the box next to the course you are requesting. You must choose a minimum of 12 (max 14) semesters plus two alternates (A). Courses are tentative and subject to change due to enrollment numbers. AP Policy

1. A student will need to earn a 2 or better to get a weighted grade for that class.
2. All students taking an AP class will be REQUIRED to take the AP exam in May and are responsible for the cost of the exam
3. AP courses are a year-long class and not a semester class. Students are expected to remain in the class for the entire school year. Should a student drop out after first semester then the grade becomes unweighted. Both teacher and administration signatures are required to drop the class.

DE Policy

1. Students who receive a D or F in a DE class are required to pay the cost of the class back to the district office.
2. CMC and BMHS have different drop dates. Students will follow BMHS drop date which is within the first 5 days after a semester begins. A student who drops a DE class after the BMHS drop date will receive a WF unless there are extenuating circumstances.
3. BMHS offers several dates and times to take the Accuplacer which allows for a student’s placement in a DE class (provided they pass with an eligible score). Those dates are in the spring PRIOR to registration for the next school year. If a student takes the Accuplacer test past those determined dates, then their placement in the class is not guaranteed.
