Dana and the Cats: Foster/Adoption Application

All cats are dewormed, treated for fleas, tested for FIV/FELV and negative unless otherwise noted, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. Kittens too young to be spayed/neutered and still needing boosters on vaccines will be arranged by the rescue once old enough. Our adoption fee is $200 which goes towards the above vetting and allows us to continue rescuing new cats.

All kittens under 6 months old must be adopted with another kitten unless you have a young playful cat at home.

Once approved to adopt, we ask adopters to arrange pick up within 1 week. If you have upcoming travel plans, please apply closer to the time you are ready to adopt.

We are a small rescue and we respond to applications as quickly as possible. Our current response time is 2-5 days. At this time we do not have the capacity to respond to rejected applications.

If applying to adopt, only: If you could no longer care for your cat(s), due to serious illness, having to leave the country, a difficult move, etc. do you have a plan for what you would do with your cat(s)?
If applying to adopt, only: Over the course of a cat's lifetime, the costs of supplies and routine veterinary care can be significant, even without serious medical issues. Dental care, which many cats need at some point, may cost $1000 or more in NYC, and a hospitalization can cost more. Pet health insurance can make costs more manageable and many vets offer care credit options.

If your cat were to need veterinary care that was more than you could manage, what do you think you would do?
If applying to adopt, only: Would you get pet insurance for your cat?
*
Please provide 2 references. At least one should be unrelated to you and both should be able to speak to your ability to care for a cat. This could be someone you have pet sit for, a roommate who has lived with you while you've had pets, a professional contact that can speak to your responsibility.

Please provide their names, relationship to you, and phone numbers.
*
Are you comfortable with a "home visit" being conducted over video to verify the safety of your home?
*
You made it! Final question: How did you hear about us?
