The Common Application offers a college application, which is accepted my multiple schools. It allows college-interested students to apply to their choice of 800+ schools with a single application, making the college application process easier and more efficient.
Note - If you are applying for the LEDA Program this year, their application is similar to the Common App. You may use the LEDA application for this tutoring assignment. You must print or email us a copy of your completed LEDA application in order to receive tutoring credit.
Go to the Common App website at www.commonapp.org and create an account. An ID will be assigned to you that you. What is your Common App ID? *
If you would like UB to keep your Common App login info on file, enter it below.
Click on the Common App tab at the top of your Dashboard. Fill out the Profile section.
When you get to Common App Fee Waiver, you can click yes since you are a member of Upward Bound.
Did you have any issues completing the Profile section? Are there any questions that UB can help you with? *

Fill everything out to the best of your ability. You will NOT be submitting your Common App at this time so you can always go back and make changes.

List all of your high school and community activities. This is a good time to start thinking about clubs, leadership roles, and community service. When applying for scholarships (and selective schools), it is nice to be able to list several activities. Be sure and list the Davis & Elkins College Upward Bound Program!
What activities did you list? Do you feel that this is sufficient for your future college goals or do you hope to take on more activities during high school?
Go to the Writing Section. You do NOT need to fill in your answers for this section at this time but it is helpful to know what is included here. Choose one of the writing prompts in the Personal Essay section to write about for this tutoring assignment.
Remember to always have someone look over your essays before submitting them to colleges or scholarships. UB staff are happy to review essays for you.
Write a short essay (2 to 3 solid paragraphs) on the topic you selected.  Copy and paste your essay here in order to get credit for this tutoring assignment. *
Some colleges (such as WVU) require you to report your courses and grades on the common app. Did you decide to do the Courses and Grades section? *
Click on the College Search tab at the top. Browse or search the colleges that currently accept the Common App.
Are there colleges you are interested in that accept the Common App? If so, name a few. *
You will be able to add to your Common App all year and submit it to colleges next fall. It will also help to refer to it when completing other college applications. Don't forget to go back and add awards, community service, test scores, etc.
