Instructions To The Monitor/Evaluator

The candidate shall be provided with a ladder already raised and heeled.
The candidate shall be provided with a ladder belt if available. (if ladder belt is not available, both candidates will perform leg lock)
The candidate shall instructed on which skill to perform by the evaluator.
The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.

Instructions To The Candidate

The candidate, given a ladder raised and heeled while wearing FULL PPE shall climb the ladder to a height of at least eight feet and demonstrate securing themselves to the ladder so as to work from the ladder with 100% accuracy.

Use Ladder Belt On Ladder - 6 Steps

1) Wears full PPE

2) Straps the belt securely around the waist

3) Turns the hook to one side before climbing

4) Climbs to the desired height

5) Return the hook to the center and attaches it to the rung directly in front of the Firefighter

6) Ensure the hook is locked

Use Leg Lock On Ladder - 6 Steps *

1) Wears full PPE

2) Climbs to the desired height

3) Slides the opposite leg from the working side over and behind the rung.

4) Hooks the foot of the locking leg on the rung or the beam

5) Rests on the thigh

6) Steps down with the opposite leg
