Placement requests for students beginning 3/22/2021
Please review the expectations for in-person and online learners, and then make your selection for the 4th 9 weeks below. This form needs to submitted by Friday, March 5.  Thank you!

What to Expect with In-Person Learning
 
Screening/Sick Children:
Please screen your child daily for symptoms:
If your child is sick, please contact our school nurse as soon as possible.
If a child becomes sick at school, our school nurse will screen the child.
If a child has fever or other symptoms, the student will be placed in isolation in our sick clinic.
A nurse or clinic aide will take care of students in our sick clinic until the child's parent can pick them up.
We ask that parents of sick children pick up their child within an hour.
We will have a separate well clinic for students who are not exhibiting symptoms.

Face Coverings:
All staff will be wearing face coverings daily.
All students will be wearing face coverings at all times during the day.
We ask that our K-2 students wear a face covering during class as well.
Please label your child's face covering with their first and last name.
Gaiters, or face coverings with vents and no filter, are not recommended.

Water Bottles/Lunch/Snack:
We ask that all students bring a labeled/reusable water bottle to school daily.
Water fountains will be utilized for water bottle refills only.
We ask that all students pack a snack when possible.
Please send your child to school with their packed lunch or have them purchase a meal from the cafeteria.

Backpacks:
All students need to bring their backpack to school each day with their transportation tag/barcode on it.

Paperwork:
Please send all notes/paperwork to your child's teacher via email (later in this newsletter are ways you can scan documents).

Sanitizing/Social Distancing:
All students will get hand sanitizer at each doorway and when entering/leaving their classroom.
Students will be encouraged to wash their hands throughout the day.
Students will utilize their own school supplies.
Any shared materials will be sanitized between each use.
Social distancing will be encouraged throughout the school day.
Students will have assigned spots in all classes, in lines, and in the cafeteria.
Students will be given a breakaway lanyard that will hold their student ID.
Students will utilize their student ID for touchless check out of books in the library and for touchless pay in the cafeteria.
Teachers will disinfect surfaces throughout the day.
The recess equipment will be disinfected daily.
The building will be e-misted daily as well.
Students will be grouped in cohorts to limit the exposure to all students in the grade level.

Arrival:
Car Riders will be dropped off at the front doors.
Students should be unbuckled and ready to open their own car door (when possible).
All parents should remain in their cars.
Students should not be dropped off early and left outside.
Bus riders will enter the bus ramp door.
Biker/Walkers will enter the building through the front doors.
All students will wear a face covering.
All students will get hand sanitizer upon entering the building.
We ask that parents and students do not congregate.
Social distancing will be enforced.

Dismissal:
Students will be dismissed from their classrooms each day to maintain social distancing.
Buses will be released in two loads.  One load leaves school at approximately 3:20 and the second load leaves at approximately 3:30.  Buses vary in arrival times, so you child’s bus will leave some days in the first load and some days in the second load.  
Car riders will be released from the classroom in flights.  This means that each row of cars (each flight of cones) gets dismissed at the same time.  When the caller sends your name in, please follow the car line in the order your child is called so that you will be lined up in the correct order when you arrive at the cones.  If you don’t follow the order, you will not be at the correct cone where your child is waiting.  Please be patient as we make those corrections.
Please have your car rider sign ready for the caller.  It is important to always have that card out and visible so that the you are prepared if a new caller is working the line, and also so that they can move quickly through the line.  
Biker/Walkers will be dismissed at 3:10.  Parents need to wait at the designated pick up locations.  Students in K and 1 need to be met by a parent.  All walkers and bikers should have a walker/biker card in case of inclement weather.  The card can then be used as a car rider card.  They also should all have a walker/biker information form on file in the office.
All students will wear a face covering.
All students will get hand sanitizer before leaving the building.
Social distancing will be enforced.

Restrooms:
Three students will be allowed in each restroom at a time.
Students will use a sticky note system to show how many students are in the restroom.
Students will wash their hands when leaving and throw their sticky note away.
Students will wait on the dots outside the restroom until they can enter.

Specials:
Each student will wear their breakaway lanyard and ID.
Each student will wear a face covering as needed.
Each student will bring their labeled water bottle and individual supplies as needed.
Social distancing will be enforced.
All students will get hand sanitizer when entering and leaving Specials.
Students in K-4 will stay with their classrooms as much as possible to avoid co-mingling of classes.  

Recess:
Students will stay with their cohort of students in an organized recess.
Classes will have an assigned area.
When students are participating in an organized physical activity, students will not have to have their face covering pulled up.
All students will get hand sanitizer when going to recess and when coming in from recess.
Social distancing will be enforced.
Playground equipment will be sanitized daily.

Cafeteria:
All students will eat in the cafeteria.
For students bringing lunch, please send plastic utensils with your children if they need that for an item they brought for lunch.  There are no utensils available in the cafeteria.
All students will practice social distancing when eating.
When children are finished eating, their face covering will be pulled back up.
Students will utilize their ID to pay in the cafeteria.
Social distance lines are in the cafeteria while students wait in line.
Students will have an assigned table and spot to eat.
Five students can sit at each table.
A touchless water fountain will be available for students to refill their water bottle as needed.
Students eating breakfast will get their breakfast in the morning and will take it to their classroom to eat.
All students will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after eating.
If a student forgets their lunch at home, they will be allowed to charge a lunch from the cafeteria.
There will only be one lunch choice this year.
Please send your child to school with lunch items they are able to open, and with utensils, if needed.

Staff Assistance:
We will have staff throughout the building each morning during arrival assisting students as needed.
Staff will help students find their classrooms, or get them to the cafeteria for breakfast and then to class.
Staff are also on duty and will assist during lunch to get students situated for lunch and will help students if they need assistance.

Technology:
If your child checked out a chromebook, please return it when your child returns for in-person learning.
We will use the chromebooks for in-person learning.
If at any time we go back to intermittent learning, a chromebook will be sent home with your child.
All computers will be disinfected between student use.

Attendance:
If your child becomes sick or is in quarantine/isolation, we can switch them to an online learner.
If your child is able to engage online, they will be counted present.
Once your child is able to return to school, we will switch them back to an in-person learner
Please have your child at school each day between 7:35 and 8:00.
Announcements begin at 7:50.
8:00 is the tardy bell.

Change of Transportation:
If you need to change your child's transportation for the day, please email suchma@conroeisd.net and Cc your child's teacher.
Please include in the email your child's name, teacher name, grade level, a copy of your ID and how your child will need to go home.
All changes must be done by 2:30 pm.
Curbside Assistance:
If you need assistance during the day, please pull up to the front porch or park in a parking spot and call 936-709-4400.

Extra Clothes:
Our nurse will not be able to provide extra clothes this school year.
Please pack an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack as you see fit.
Some students get in the mud and some have accidents.
Please label anything you send to school, including jackets.

Tuesday Folder:
Each Tuesday your child will come home with their Tuesday folder.
Please check this folder as it will contain important notes and your child's work.
Please do not utilize this folder to send paperwork to school.

What to Expect with Online Learning
 
Attendance:
Students will need to engage daily in order to be counted present.
Students have until 11:59pm to engage each school day through Canvas or SeeSaw.

Grades:
Students must complete their assignments in order to receive grades.
Students should make every effort to get their work completed and turned in on time.
Assignments will have clearly stated due dates
Assignments will be posted in your child’s SeeSaw or Canvas account, and in Parent Access.
In order to get grade level credit, assignments must be completed and submitted.
Kindergarten does Standards Based Report Cards.  This means that you cannot log into Parent Access for Report Cards.  A hard copy of your child’s Report card will be sent home at the end of each nine weeks. Kindergarten does not get Progress Reports.

Engagement:
Students can engage by logging into Canvas or SeeSaw, by talking with the teacher through email, or attending a live Zoom class.
Recorded lessons will be available each day for students to watch.
Students will be assigned a small group Zoom to participate in.
We encourage your child to participate in their small group Zoom.
Small group Zooms provide time for your child to learn at their level, provides interaction with other students, and provides opportunities for feedback and for questions.

Dreambox:
Every child should complete at least 5 Dreambox lessons a week.
Parents should refrain from helping their child during these lessons.
Dreambox is tiered to your child's learning style and need.

Commitment:
Online learning is a family commitment and takes time.
Families will have the opportunity to change to face-to-face instruction at the end of each grading period.
We are unable to continue to allow students to switch between learning platforms at this time due to the amount of preparation needed.
If an extenuating circumstance comes up, please contact the campus principal.

Specials:
PE and Fine Arts teachers post one-two lessons per week for each K-4 student.  In grades 5 and 6, there may be more lessons based on the class and upcoming events.
Fine Arts and PE teachers will not be able to offer live Zooms at this time in K-4.  Fine Arts teachers in 5 and 6 will have scheduled Zooms for students in their respective electives.
Specials teachers will upload lessons into your child's learning management system each week by Monday at 7:30am.
Your child needs to complete their Fine Arts and PE activities each weeks in order to get their Fine Arts and PE participation grades.

Books:
If your child needs books to read, please contact your child's teacher.
