The GRASSROOTS RADIO CONFERENCE is unlike any other event in the world! It is an annual gathering where members of college and community radio stations can come together in comaraderie to share ideas, technology, and resources.
Traditionally, each Grassroots Radio Conference is hosted by a different college or community radio station in a new part of the country. This allows the community radio world to travel to a unique destination and get a peak behind the scenes of a different radio set up each year. But there are no rules. Decidedly freeform and anti-authoritarian each year's conference takes on an identity that reflects the unique character of the hosting station.
In recent years the event has taken place in the fall but the host station can determine when in the year they host the conference. Any community or college radio station is welcome to apply but they will need to provide classrooms for the conference sessions and a large assembly area for main events. The conference should be easy to attend and accommodations should be available in the area.
When the host station is selected, they get $1500 seed money and the beautiful GRC Quilt. Once the conference is over, the station passes along those items to the next host station but can keep any additional revenue. The senior members of the GRC community can offer as much -- or as little -- help and advice as you want in the organization of the conference but it is always beautiful to see how each station makes it their own!
If your station is interested in hosting the 2024 Grassroots Radio Conference please complete the form below by the GRC Monthly Meet-Up on MARCH 26th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM CT. Applicants are invited to make their pitch to the GRC Community at this virtual meeting.
