As some of you may be aware, from 1 January 2020, Mechanical Services licences will be introduced for mechanical services work of any value. The new licensing framework will be implemented in stages.

From 1 July 2020, contractors must be licensed to carry out mechanical services work.

From 1 January 2022, all workers must be licensed to carry out mechanical services work.

Your circumstances will determine your pathway to obtain the licence you need.

As your Union we are committed to assisting you in obtaining the necessary Licence, the below is to gage the best pathway to achieving this for your circumstances.

Although Workers have 2 years until the cut off for obtaining the licence, it's important to act quickly, as some transitional pathways must be applied for much sooner than that.

We understand that this may be confusing and you may have questions regarding how this impacts you, we will be investing significant resources to assisting these members in navigating the changes and further information will be distributed in the new year.
