FiberART: Felting for Young Creatives (ages 10-12)
Workshop Description:

FiberART: Felting for Young Creatives is a free workshop series tailored to Providence's young creative communities. Presented by local Fiber Artist Hollis Hickerson of Horned Hare Studios, and funded by the RISCA Community Engagement Grant, it aims to engage more youth in fiber art exploration, specifically felting. This two-day workshop will run twice, providing hands-on experience in felting wool to create expressive wall hangings. Beyond fostering creativity, "FiberART" offers therapeutic benefits, empowering students to navigate life's challenges through artistic expression. 


Workshop Details:
  • Attendee age range: 10-12 years old 
  • First session: June 1st & 15th from 10-12pm   
  • Second session June 22nd & 29th from 10-12pm 
(choose only one session to register your child to allow more opportunities other participants. Registration is limited to 12 slots per session)
  • Workshop Location: Creative Reuse Center of RI, 991 Waterman Ave, East Providence, RI 02914
  • Tools young artists will use: Felting Needles, Embroidery Needles, thread and soft wet felting tool. 
  • Each young artist will get to bring their small kit of tools home to keep! 
  • Policy on parent/guardian attendance: Caregivers should stay during the workshop but please allow the young artists to engage with the workshop independently. 
  • Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email including a copy of the permission slip to be signed by day one of the workshop, as well as details of what to expect.
