In celebration and honor of Native American Heritage month, WCL's Native American Law Students Association and Environmental Law Society are hosting a rich conversation about Native American Culture and Environmental Justice with Nick Estes.

Nick Estes is a citizen of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, an assistant professor of American studies, host of the Red Nation podcast, and an incredible journalist that reports on environmental issues from the perspective of Native American communities. Additionally, from 2017-2018, Mr. Estes was the American Democracy Fellow at the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History at Harvard University. In 2019, Mr. Estes published his book, "Our History is the Future: Standing Rock Versus the Dakota Access Pipeline, and the Long Tradition of Indigenous Resistance." Mr. Estes's research engages colonialism and global Indigenous histories, with a focus on decolonization, environmental justice, anti-capitalism, and the Oceti Sakowin.
