The Maine Occupational Therapy Association collaborates with Maine DHHS to coordinate COVID-19 vaccinations

The State of Maine is working to vaccinate all eligible Maine residents as soon as possible. Maine is completing its fourth week of vaccinations and has received just over 81,000 doses from the federal government—covering roughly 6 percent of state residents.

While Maine has made progress on vaccinating personnel who work in critical hospital infrastructure, a range of professional associations, including MEOTA have stepped forward to help coordinate vaccinations for patient-facing health care personnel and staff within Phase 1a, Group 1 and Group 2. This service is to get Maine OT and OTA licensees whose workplace does not provide a vaccine access to a local clinic. https://www.maine.gov/covid19/vaccines/mainehealthcarepersonnel

Specifically, MEOTA is working with Maine DHHS to identify available vaccination sites and help provide information to connect patient-facing personnel with available vaccination sites (MeOTA members and non-members). This process should provide access to COVID-19 vaccines for health care personnel and their patient-facing staff over the coming weeks, recognizing that this will depend on the supply of vaccine Maine receives from the federal government as well as throughput at vaccination sites.
