The organisers and community around the Laura Street Festival are acutely aware of ongoing marginalisation and discrimination in Australian society and the arts, experienced by BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and disabled artists. Event curators are committed to ensuring the Festival is accessible to artists and performers from all backgrounds who want to share their work. Setting up & Packing down (putting up decorations, setting up gazebos etc.)
Sound tech (knowledge of sound systems necessary)
Stage support (hanging out at a 'venue' on the day and making sure people know where things are, helping get bands in and out on time)
First Aid (must have valid first aid quals/license - you'll be stationed at the first aid tent)
Food prep for volunteers - cooking food for the volunteers on the day of the festival (some food prep may be able to be done the day before)
Kids space *must have blue card* (This is NOT a childcare role, parents must stay with their kids, volunteers will be hanging out at the kids space, making sure crafts are cleaned up, hanging out with kids, doing fun activities)
Traffic Control (standing at either end of the street where the road is closed, making sure drivers know alternate routes)
Wandering info desk (Keeping an eye on things, giving info, answering questions)
Workshop assistants (supervising the workshop spaces - you can participate in workshops too!)
Story harvesters & writers (collecting stories on the day, capturing memories)
Photographers (capturing the festival so we have photos to share in future years)
