Introduction to Canvas
New to Canvas? After an overview of Canvas environment and the global navigation options, you will explore the course navigation menu and individual components that are used to deliver content and assess student performance.  You will learn how to customize your course Home page, create Announcements, upload files, use the rich content editor to create content, adjust course settings and publish your course so it is available to students.  Prerequisites: Canvas username/password and completion of Modules 1-3 of Canvas Faculty Orientation course.   Instructor: Jane Tutein
Canvas Assignments and Grading
In Canvas, "Assignments" refer to any scored student work--online submitted assignments, unsubmitted activities, scored discussion, or even quizzes. In this session, you will learn how to create different types of assignments, group assignments to make grade weighting easier, and use the Gradebook and SpeedGrader to quickly score student work. Prerequisite: Introduction to Canvas.    Instructor: Jane Tutein
Screencasting Basics
Learn the basics of “screencasting”, recording videos of action taking place on your screen. We will look at the workflow of creating a screencast using the free tool Screencast-o-matic. You will also learn how to make your screencasts accessible by adding closed captions, and uploading it to YuJa to be viewable in Canvas.  Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Canvas Quizzes
Learn the basics of the Quizzes tool including how to create a quiz, specify settings, add individual questions and preview a quiz. You will also learn how to use question groups to organize and randomize questions as well as how to adjust settings using LockDown Browser to secure the quiz.  Prerequisite: Introduction to Canvas      Instructor: Jane Tutein
Interactive Presentations
Are you ready to go beyond standard PowerPoint presentations? Engage your students with tools that let them ask anonymous questions during a lecture, or embed online questions in your slides to check for understanding. We will explore Poll Everywhere, Google Slides Q&A, Kahoot, and Nearpod. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Canvas Groups and Collaboration
Canvas enhances class teamwork by easing group creation and collaboration. Participants will learn how to create and manage groups and group assignments, and experience the collaborative potential of live-edited Google documents, slides and sheets.  Instructor: Jane Tutein
Creating Accessible PDFs with Adobe Acrobat
If you share PDFs with your students, it is important to be sure that the pdf files are accessible. In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to create accessible pdfs even if your pdf file was created by scanning a text file. We will be using Adobe Acrobat which Endicott has a site license for.  Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Creating Accessible Videos: Captioning with YuJa
If you share videos with your students such as screencasts, it is important to be sure that the videos are accessible. In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to quickly add closed captions to your course videos. We will be using our video server tool YuJa, which has a speech to text tool to create closed caption files.  Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Canvas Rubrics for Feedback and Grading
Attend this workshop to learn how to build and grade with Canvas rubrics to make grading more transparent and efficient. You will have time to experiment with adding your own rubric and grading with it.  This is an intermediate level workshop for individuals who have prior experience with Canvas assignments and grading features.    Instructor: Jane Tutein
Google Add-Ons and Chrome Extensions for Research, Writing, and Feedback
Google Add-Ons and Chrome Extensions let you do more with your Google Docs, Sheets and Chrome by adding new, useful features such as the ability to create graphic organizers, build a bibliography, or provide audio feedback to students within documents during the writing process. We will explore these and other features that are freely available with Add-Ons and Extensions. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Alternative Online Discussion Forums
We will explore a variety of online tools to generate engaging online discussions. These are alternatives to the standard Canvas discussion forums, and they provide features for students to easily share webcam videos and other multimedia content. We will look at Flipgrid, Padlet, Perusall, and Hypothes.is. These tools can be used in class or as part of homework assignment.  Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Introduction to TurnitIn in Canvas Assignments
Faculty now have the option of enabling Turnitin similarity checking for assignments submitted through Canvas as a way to help students avoid plagiarism and appropriately document and cite sources.  In this session, we will cover how to enable Turnitin for student submissions, how to access and interpret the Similarity index and report,  and strategies for introducing the tool to students.     Instructor: Jane Tutein

Do you assign videos for your students to watch? Do you want to know if students are understanding what they’re watching? We’ll explore online tools that let you attach questions to videos and track who is watching and understanding. We'll also explore a tool to facilitate online discussions as students watch videos, as well as a tool to take time-stamped notes while watching a video. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
