23-24 Jr. District Registration - BMHS
Deadline to register: Wednesday, December 20, 2023

Thank you for representing BMHS in the Northeastern Junior District Festival! This form has all of the information that you need to know for the festival this year.

Your audition fees, bussing, and all other fees related to districts and all state are covered for you. Every person who registers is assumed to be completely clear for the audition day (including the snow date for the audition), and the festival days. The dates of the festival are below.

Students are not allowed to drop out of the audition once they are registered. If something happens that you cannot attend the audition (after registration), you will be charged the full fee for the audition and the bus fee for travel, which is a $40 check made payable to Belmont Public Schools. Our time will be posted two weeks before the audition, so we will know our travel schedule then.

Your audition will include:
1. Solo piece
2. Scales (memorized as provided)
3. Snare & Mallet Auditions: Students are required to prepare the auxiliary piece provided on the audition list (triangle, bass drum 2 mallets, maracas (2), tambourine).

Students must be an active participant in their school’s music department and part of a school ensemble.

Eligibility:
1. Students in Grades 7-9
2. Grade 6 students auditioning for a choral ensemble can only audition on Tenor or Bass.
3. Students who participated in the most recent Senior Festival performance are ineligible to audition for the Junior Festival. 

Students may only perform one audition with the following exceptions:

Percussionists may audition on more than one instrument.

Jazz students may also audition for Band, Orchestra or a Chorus.

We recommend dressing professionally (all black, or black and white). We ask that you please not wear jeans, sneakers or casual footwear, hoodies, t-shirts, or clothing with distracting logos. Concert dress (all black) is a great choice.

No photocopies of music are allowed. You must purchase your own original solo part (making sure that it is the correct edition, as noted on the audition form).
