Join us at the Jack Millikin Centre for our new textiles centred ForestART camp with host Jenny Ambrose!

Learn needle felting, hand stitching and machine sewing before combining your skills into projects from your own imagination! There’s lots of room for creativity here and if you have a specific goal in mind, you are also most welcome to bring any specific supplies you might like to use from home. Feel free to connect with Jenny prior to the camp to discuss your project goals!

Needle felting - The art of sculpting with wool using a special barbed needle and a foam block. You can needle felt almost anything including forest creatures, your pet, insects, trees or flowers incorporating rocks, pine cones or branches to create little dioramas!

Hand sewing - Learn basic hand sewing stitches and even a few embroidery stitches! We will be making our own funky patches which you can then add to a hat, bag, or to cover up a hole in your favourite jeans!

Machine sewing - Do you have a sewing machine sitting at home, but nobody to help you learn?! We will be covering all the basics from how to wind a bobbin and thread your machine, while exploring projects like patchwork totes, pouches, pillows, aprons, stuffies and more!

We will be taking an outdoor ski break each day! Don’t worry if you don’t have skis, we have all kinds of sizes available from the Ness Creek collection and there will even be a short ski lesson for any newbies!

Please bring:

  • Sewing machine *optional - there will be a few machines to share
  • Fabric * optional - there will be fabric available, but if your young textile artist has something very specific in mind, feel free to send along!
  • Please pack a lunch and a water bottle.

Snacks will be provided! Please let us know if your child has any food allergies in advance.
