Sylvania Virtual Academy 2.0 (SVA) is an educational program that is part of the Sylvania City Schools system. SVA provides an alternative to the traditional high school experience for those students who may need an alternative environment and is based off of the Ohio Department of Education's credit flexibility model. An individualized student plan is developed at the time of enrollment and is based on a mastery learning instructional model.
SVA is staffed by high school licensed teachers who are also certified in special education. Students who reside in the Sylvania Schools district boundaries may attend and are subject to the same district guidelines as traditional learners. All students, currently seated and new enrollees, must complete an application to be considered for admission. The SVA program has a maximum seat capacity of 60 students per section and has in the past experienced a high demand. Students may be wait-listed and expected to attend traditional school until a seat becomes available.
