IEEE Workshop Series - Rave2Go: A STM32 Introduction Interest Form #2 (11/10/22)
Welcome to our IEEE Workshop Series of Fall 2022!

Our UH branch is providing its membership with several multi-week workshops covering a variety of ECE topics. This particular series details the intricacies behind a Aideepen ST Link V2 Microcontroller in the effort to build a functioning MP3 player with LED Matrix!

The second session of this workshop begins on Thursday, 11/10/2022 from 12 - 1 PM in the IEEE Lounge, Engineering Building 1, Room N367.

Please fill out the information below to reserve your spot!
Background
Students will build and program their own MP3 player using a STM32 Microcontroller and an MP3 Module. The MP3 player will play songs contained on an included storage card and a grid of LED's will react to the music that is played similar to an audio visualizer.

This workshop serves as an introduction to the ST Microcontroller family and the UART communication protocol. Students will also learn how to construct circuits on a breadboard from a circuit schematic, common electrical components, C programming for STM32 Microcontollers, and basic soldering skills. No prior knowledge required!
Workshop Outline
Session 1: Intro to STM32 (10/13/22)
- What is a microcontroller (MCU)?
- What is STM32?
- Present an example of a circuit diagram
- Set up the STM32 IDE and show how to configure STM32 pins
- What is the C programming language?
- What are variables, conditional statements, methods?
- Code a blinking LED project

Session 2: UART & Constructing the MP3 Player (11/10/22)
- What are MCU communication methods?
- What is UART?
- Wire and program the MP3 module via UART
- What are buttons?
