2021 El Capitan Summer School Application

We are pleased to inform you that El Capitan will offer two sessions of Summer School; each running for 3 weeks (June 14 - July 2 and July 6 - July 23) . Summer School this year will be in-person, 5 days a week starting at 7:20 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Though we are in the very beginning stages of preparing for Summer School, we wanted to start gathering information from all students who are interested in participating.

This is a wonderful opportunity that we hope students will take full advantage of. Please fill out the form below and we will update you as soon as more information becomes available.

Which instructional format would you prefer? *

Regardless of the format, all classes will be held in-person and on campus.

"Traditional" setting - Student will be assigned to one teacher, working on a variety of lessons in the subject area of the class they are taking. By selecting this choice I understand that I will be expected to "attend" approximately 5 hours of instruction per day (Monday-Friday) and will earn five credits for satisfactory "attendance" and satisfactory completion of work for the class enrolled. “Satisfactory completion” includes not more than ten hours of "absence" in the 3 week session regardless of the reason for the absence. I also agree to abide by the same rules of conduct expected during regular school, including adherence to the GUHSD Computer Use Agreement.

Acellus (Program that replaced E2020/Edgenuity) - Acellus is an online computer based course with a teacher available to assist students in the learning process. Most courses in this program DO meet the A-G requirements, but DO NOT meet NCAA eligibility requirements. Students will be expected to "attend" a minimum of 5 hours per day (Monday - Friday) and may need additional time to complete the course. High speed internet is required to be successful with this program. All communications must be appropriate and can be retrieved and printed by the instructor at any time and in accordance with the Acceptable Use Policy. I understand that the course must be completed by the end of summer school or I will receive no credit for work completed.I understand I will earn five credits for satisfactory attendance and completion of the class. “Satisfactory completion” includes not more than ten hours of "absence" in the 3 week session regardless of the reason for the "absence". If a student completes a course before the end of summer school they may be able to take an additional course for make-up credit or may end summer school on the date of completion (student must check out through office in this case).
