Teaching Artist: Jana Platina Phipps
Jana Platina Phipps has been playing tennis since she was 10 years old, was a highly ranked junior growing up, and continues to play competitively. She is an entrepreneur and attributes many of her business skills to her time spent on the court. Coach Jana is a certified tennis instructor with the Professional Tennis Registry and loves empowering all levels of players with both the physical and mental benefits of the game. She is an active parent in the NECS community, a Peekskill business owner, and instructs at Premier Athletic Club and The Masters School.

Description: Tennis is a game of skill and strategy yet at its essence, learning tennis is character-building and develops many virtues: cooperation, self-discipline, perseverance, confidence, resilience, and joyfulness to name a few. Join our program from beginners to intermediate ages 6 - 12, for a fun and engaging experience on court, learning essential stroke techniques in a positive environment. You’ll have a new appreciation of the game and its innate life-lessons. Participants will get the chance to discuss how certain virtues that apply to tennis apply to other aspects of their lives and why it is essential to develop them. We will also discuss popular tennis players who have had to overcome life challenges by developing the above virtues.

Fee: $120 residents and non-residents
