The Mountain Center (TMC) (historically The Santa Fe Mountain Center) is a nationally recognized and accredited 501(C)3 educational and therapeutic organization that, since 1979, has been dedicated to promoting personal discovery and social change among youth, adults, families, and groups through the use of creative learning experiences in nature, community, and cultural environments. About our Summer Youth Program
The Mountain Center’s Summer Youth Program will be offered at no charge to New Mexicans who apply and are accepted. Applications will be processed on a first come first serve basis. There is no guarantee of placement. Placement decisions will be based on sections answered on this application and interview with the parent or guardian of the child. We will be giving priority to families who need support due to COVID-19.
The age range this program serves is 13-17 years old.
Our Summer Youth Program will follow guidelines from the New Mexico’s Department of Health for youth summer programming.
Programming will take place at the Mountain Center’s facility and/or nature settings with as minimal people present as possible.
All programs will have the following COVID-19 mitigation strategies:
All staff and clients will wear masks (except for eating, emergencies, or structured breaks)
Programs will be primarily outside.
There will be an outside hand washing station (soap and water), and hand washing will be encouraged.
There will be hand sanitizer available.
We will limit group activities where staff and participants are touching one another or equipment.
Physical distancing will be practiced.
Anyone that is not feeling well or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to not come to programs.
Participants will be briefed on mitigation strategies for COVID-19.
Participation is voluntary and cannot be mandated.
If a participant tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of being on our program, they are required to let the Mountain Center know.
