The WRMC Steering Committee oversees the educational content of the conference and provides collaborative direction and leadership. The committee is comprised of representatives from the partner organizations, which are selected to represent attendee demographics and industry sectors, in alignment with the WRMC Purpose and Tenets. Individual committee members are selected for their varied expertise and experience in wilderness risk management.
Committee Structure:
•
One or two chairs lead the committee and manage succession.
•
The committee includes 10-12 members (including chairs).
•
Committee members may serve up to two consecutive three year terms, at the discretion of the chair(s).
Responsibilities:
•
Commitment to thoughtful risk management practices, self-examination, and learning.
•
Consistently attend monthly meetings and the conference itself during term(s) of service.
•
Participate in workshop selection and evaluation, in support of the WRMC Purpose and Tenets.
•
Review applications and select recipients for scholarships.
•
Review nominations and select recipient WRMC Leadership Award.
•
Provide input on planning for the future of the conference.
•
Provide connections and build relationships with individuals and groups that contribute to a vibrant, inclusive conference.
