We will provide you with lunch Monday to Friday
For your other meal you have a kitchen with a cooker, fridge, blender and coffee machine etc.
There is a corner shop in the village with basics (rice, oil, sugar etc.)
10 minutes by bus you reach the nearest town with dried food & vegetables
30 minutes by bus you arrive in Guaranda with supermarkets and the large weekly market
ACCOMMODATION
We have two options...
1. The Quilico Dormitories:
- Shared dorms 6-8 beds
- Bathroom with hot water
- WiFi
- There is no washing machine, you can wash by hand or through a neighbour's service
2. Family Homestay:
- Practice your Spanish, get to know local culture and enjoy some privacy
- Private room
- Shared bathroom and kitchen with host family
- WiFi included
- Washing station (by hand or washing machine depending on the house)
- Still with access to kitchen, bathroom, living and WiFi room of the Quilico Dormitories (a few minutes walk away)
- $20-25/week (individual) or $35-40/week (couple) - 100% goes to the host family
PROGRAMME COSTS

ECUADOR LIVING COSTS
$20-25/week on personal food etc.
$2-3.50 for a set lunch in a restaurant
$1.25 per hour of bus travel
$10-20 per night for a hostal
LOCAL SECURITY
Guaranda is one of the safer places in Ecuador
There is a police station in the village
We recommend that you don't walk around at night or leave anything outside when you are not around
ARRIVAL
Guaranda is equal distance between the two international airports, Quito and Guayaquil
Bus travel is cheap and generally safe, $7 for a 5 hour journey
Shared shuttle cars are available $45 for a 4 hour journey
