BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND ELIGIBILITY
What is Rivers of Hope?
Rivers of Hope is arts-based educational organization that was established in 2018. Our mission is to leverage the expressive power of the arts to build bridges of understanding across differences. We facilitate workshops in High School classrooms to empower young people to take action against racism, prejudice, and hate. Learn more at www.riversofhope.ca.

Who is eligible to be a Workshop Facilitator?
Applicants must be between 18-25 years old and live in the Greater Toronto Area or in Hamilton.
What are the benefits & responsibilities of being a Workshop Facilitator?
If you are selected to be a workshop facilitator, you will receive paid training in how to facilitate Rivers of Hope's workshop on bystander intervention against racism, prejudice, and hate. You will also receive ongoing mentorship from Rivers of Hope throughout the year. Each facilitator will facilitate at least three workshops per school year alongside a co-facilitator, and will be paid $200 per workshop.
Are workshops facilitated in person or online?
In 2020-2021, we facilitated ALL of our workshops online. This looked like joining virtual classrooms on Zoom or Google Meets or being live-streamed into physical, in-person classrooms.

In 2022, we will continue to offer online workshops and live-stream our workshops into classrooms. We expect that most of our workshops will be in these online formats. In addition, we will start offering an in-person workshop option for classrooms that are interested in that.

If you are selected to be a facilitator with us, you will only facilitate in person if you are comfortable doing so and if you are fully vaccinated.  If you are not comfortable and/or vaccinated, you will facilitate workshops online.

If COVID numbers spike, we will withdraw our in person workshop option and go back to facilitating online only.
