2023 Women's Retreat

It's been 3 years since we've set aside this kind of time to connect with one another.  It's about time!  Come for part or all of this year's gathering, which includes ice breakers, presentation, lunch and worship.  We’ll have conversation in large and small groups. This is a wonderful way to get to know other women from BSPC.

Date: February 4, 2023,  9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Palmer Hall at BSPC

Theme: Emotions in the Psalms:  When was the last time you said, “God, I am angry at you”? Have you ever made such a bold statement in worship?  While we often reference our emotional lives in worship, we do not always experience them.  Anger in particular, is one emotion that we view with ambivalence or even outright rejection.  Come and hear what the emotional lives of the psalmists were like – and how they expressed their anger at God to God in the context of liturgy and prayer.

Leadership: Ann Palmerton and Rachel Wrenn

Our speaker at 10:00 is Rev. Dr. Rachel Wrenn (PhD, Emory University). Dr. Rachel is an Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Capital University. She is also an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) pastor. Her academic interests include the Psalms, biblical emotions, ethnography and embodiment. The first part of her ministry was spent serving small town and rural churches in Minnesota. Her husband, Tim, is a Lutheran pastor in Dublin, OH, where they live with their two children and two cats.
