Abstract:

The Netflix Original Series, “Squid Games” was one of the biggest hit shows all around the world. Through this show, people around the world became familiar with Korean traditional games such as Daakji, Marble game, Tug of War, Mugunghwa has bloomed, Dalgona and the Squid Game itself. The purpose of this seminar & Activities are to teach and play these classic games as well as bring other cultural games from different countries to discover various type of classic games around the world.

넷플릭스 오리지널 드라마 “오징어 게임”은 전세계에서 공전의 히트를 기록하며 사상 최고 흥행작에 올랐습니다. 이 드라마를 통해 세계 곳곳의 사람들은 딱지, 구슬치기, 줄다리기, 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다, 달고나, 오징어게임 등의 한국 민속놀이를 접하게 되었습니다. 본 세미나의 목적은 상기 놀이들을 즐겁게 플레이함과 동시에 세계 각지 문화의 전통놀이들도 함께 소개하고 플레이하는 것입니다.

Purpose:

The activities in the “Squid Games” were often portrayed a violent game and at times a tool to gain for their capital greed. However, these games were invented historically as a playful game for children to make friends and bond with one another. Therefore, as a Korean Canadian Cultural Association, we would like to hold this seminar & activities to educate the peers where diversities of the game came from and how to play them the right way.

“오징어 게임”에 나오는 게임들은 참가자 개인의 부를 달성하려는 폭력적인 게임으로써 묘사되었으나 원래는 어린아이들이 서로 친해지고 유대를 기르기 위한 즐거운 전통놀이로 발전돼 왔습니다. 그리하여 저희 토론토 한인회는 드라마에서 나온 게임들을 올바르게 설명하고 즐겁게 플레이하며 여러분들과 함께 다문화 체험의 장을 만들고자 합니다.
