The Oregon Country Fair
(OCF) is seeking applications for entertainment acts, interactive exhibits,
games, and art projects that promote the stewardship and sustainability efforts
of the OCF community. OCF creates events and experiences that nourish the
spirit, explore living artfully and authentically on Earth and transform
culture in magical, joyous and healthy ways. For more than 50 years, OCF has
thrived through the dedication, generosity, and support of what are now
thousands of crafts people, entertainers, and staff volunteers. We are a
nonprofit organization with a focus on creating celebratory experiences and
invite you to join our collaborative effort. In exchange, we offer small
expense stipends and the chance to camp on-site during the three-day event in
July 2023.
Although the fair is only held three days of the year, we are always caretakers
of the land on which the event is held, and we are always searching for new
ways to leave a smaller footprint on the planet. The StewardShip is a
developing venue that promotes OCF’s stewardship of the site and general
sustainability efforts like reducing our waste stream and carbon footprint.
We are looking for entertaining acts, interactive exhibits, games, and art
projects that celebrate OCF’s efforts to live authentically on the Earth while
practicing reverence for the land. ***To be accepted, your proposal must
highlight a specific effort Oregon Country Fair is making to be a
sustainability leader.*** While your proposal doesn't necessarily have to meet
all of the following criteria, we are looking for activities and exhibits that
are informative, entertaining, artistic, creative, fun, beautiful, and
interactive.
For 2023, we are especially interested in:
• 45-minute interactive entertainment acts such as puppet shows, juggling acts,
music, etc. that highlight different aspects of the fair’s stewardship efforts
such as:
~ OCF initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint
~ OCF's efforts to restore rivers, streams, and
wetlands.
~ The cultural history of the land where the fair
is held.
~ OCF’s efforts to manage native vegetation and/or
protect wildlife.
~ OCF’s efforts to sell sustainably and purchase
with intention.
~ The dramatic reduction of waste produced at OCF.
• An interactive exhibit or game that highlights OCF’s efforts to be a
sustainability leader.
• Art projects aimed at both kids and adults that incorporate the use of
recycled materials.
Priority will be given to applicants associated with OCF crews/committees
and/or to artists, designers, and interpreters with a collaborative approach.
All entertainment acts, exhibits, games, and art projects will be featured at
the StewardShip booth in the Xavanadu area of the fair.
Please fill out the following application, preferably though the OCF online
form. The OCF StewardShip Crew will review all applications and may follow up
to get more information. The crew will make final decisions in April 2023.
