2024 Application for the Joel Brahce Award

The Joel Brahce Endowment Fund, established in 2021 with the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, in memory of Dr. Joel Brahce, a 1976 graduate of Pioneer High School, who played tuba, was a drum major candidate, and soloed at Interlochen. Proceeds from the fund will be distributed each year as a single scholarship award for any current band student in grades 9 - 11.

The Joel Brahce Award is a merit-based award, however if two students are equally qualified, we will use financial need to choose the recipient. The award is to be used to attend Pioneer Band Camp.

The student’s record should clearly show that they:

  • Regularly participates in band performances, social, and fundraising activities.
  • Demonstrates a desire to improve as a musician and contribute to ensemble performance; and
  • Intends to continue to play their instrument in an established ensemble.
The application form for the Joel Brahce Award must be completed online by the student and their parent/guardian. Applications for the Joel Brahce Award are due on or before May 3, 2024. The Joel Brahce Award will be presented each May at the Pioneer Band Banquet.
