This course, running over 3 sessions on Zoom, will explore how to place reasoning and problem-solving at the heart of the KS1 maths curriculum. We will consider a wide range of techniques for interweaving reasoning into maths lessons for all children. This will include how children can reason in whole-class teaching through to ways to build reasoning into questions and tasks. A coherent approach to introducing problem-solving will also be shared. This will enable all teachers to adapt their curriculum to engage all children in rich, thought-provoking mathematics. And lots of new resources will be shared! Tasks will be set between sessions for the participants.
