THEME
Transitions: Navigating Change and Moving Forward
DESCRIPTION
The museum field is changing. Let’s embrace these challenges together and move forward with our communities.
Although change can be difficult to navigate, times of transition are also times of great creativity. What will our next ideas be? How will the field change in the next few years or longer? What will be our role?
Our #MA2022 conference will be held both virtually and in person in Valdez. Let’s take the opportunity to explore these ideas.
Join your friends and colleagues from around the state to share solutions and inspiration, and enjoy each other’s company.
We invite the Museums Alaska community to consider presenting on topics such as:
• Innovation,
• Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA), or Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI),
• Pay equity,
• Equitable curation,
• Recruitment and human resources,
• Labor issues and rights,
• Broadening audiences,
• Repatriation, decolonization, and indigenization,
• Exploring where authority comes from,
• Changing perspectives,
• Being and remaining relevant to your community,
• Financial challenges,
• Budgeting our values,
• New infrastructure ideas and projects,
• New methods in development and marketing,
• or suggest a topic that is relevant to your organization.
We encourage you to collaborate with others—with museum colleagues at different museums or partners outside of the museum field—to create your session or workshop.
We’re interested in traditional presentations, but also more innovative session ideas like meet-ups, workshops, collaborative conversations, interactive sessions, roundtables, lightning rounds, fireside chats, immersive outdoor experiences, and artist collaborations.
Submit your session or workshop proposal below and let us know if you have any questions by emailing Dixie at director[at]

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, APRIL 1!
