Roanoke Flood Resilience Plan Survey

The City of Roanoke extends a warm Hello! and a big Thank You! for giving us just ten minutes of your time to complete this survey. You are helping us make the first move toward building a more flood resilient city. This means we are dedicated to becoming more prepared, ready to respond, able to cope and recover from flood events – and we can’t do it without you. This survey is a chance for you to tell us about your unique flooding challenges in your community. There is also an opportunity for you to provide ideas or suggestions for flood resilience/mitigation projects in the City. Your input will inform the City’s efforts and help ensure the Roanoke Resilience Plan addresses the needs of City stakeholders. Your input will promote positive changes, and we appreciate your willingness to help in this planning effort.

Read below for a little more background or feel free to proceed directly to the survey.

The City was recently awarded a grant from the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to develop a Citywide Roanoke Resilience Plan. Grants were awarded through DCR from the Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund to local governments per §10.1‐603.25 et seq. of the Code of Virginia and as required by the Clean Energy and Community Flood Preparedness Act. The planning study is anticipated to take around 8 months to complete, and the resulting Resilience Plan will then enable City leaders to better understand flooding concerns throughout the entire city to consider applying for more grant funding support in the future, towards flood resilience projects and strategies identified in the Plan.
