Boise Winter Forecast Contest
Welcome to the Boise Winter Forecast Contest, hosted by the National Weather Service in Boise! Please read the information below before entering.

Contest:
There are three contests you can enter: the date of the first measurable snowfall in Boise, the total snowfall from October 19th to April 30th in Boise, and the coldest low temperature from October 19th to April 30th in Boise. Official observations will be made at the Boise Airport by NWS staff. For each contest, the closest forecast to the observation will be the winner. There are no prizes for the winners, but we will announce the winners on our NWS Boise Twitter and Facebook pages- bragging rights are on the line.

Hint: If you want to do a little research about winters in Boise, you can view climate data on our website:

It is free to enter each contest. You can enter the contests by filling out this optional survey form, or by commenting on one of our Facebook or Twitter contest posts with your forecast.

IMPORTANT: If you choose to enter the contests by commenting on one of our Facebook or Twitter contest posts, end your comment with "Yes" if you give us permission to announce your name on our Twitter and Facebook pages if you win. If you do not give us permission, end your comment with "No."

Rules:
You may submit one forecast to each contest. If you enter more than one forecast to each contest, only your most recent submission will count. Forecasts must be submitted by Sunday, October 18th at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Forecasts entered October 19th or later will not be considered.

Detailed Contest Rules:
1. For the date of the first measurable snowfall contest: pick a date. "First measurable" means the first date this season that snow accumulates at least 0.1 inch- i.e. at least a dusting.
2. For the total snowfall contest: enter a number, rounded to the nearest tenth of an inch. Example: 20.1. If you include more decimal places, we will round your forecast to the nearest tenth of an inch.
3. For the coldest low temperature contest: enter a number, rounded to the nearest whole number in degrees F. Example: 20. Negative numbers are acceptable. If you include decimals, we will round your forecast to the nearest degree F.

Disclaimer:
If you choose to enter the contests using this optional survey form: staff at NWS Boise will be able to see your email address; however, your email address will only be used to automatically email you your forecast contest entries, for your own records. Your name will be announced on our Facebook and Twitter pages, with your permission, only if you win one of the contests; otherwise, it will not be shared with those outside of the NWS.

Good luck!
