1.  Be respectful of all school property and your classmates’ personal property.
-Only use your personal materials.
-If you would like to borrow something, ask the teacher.
-Clean up after yourself.

2.  Show respect towards everyone in our class.
-Work quietly and cooperatively.
-Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
-Be kind and helpful.
-Understand our differences and learn from each other.  We are all special and important!
-Be the BEST version of you!
3.  All work must be done on time.  Each day we will have a variety of assignments, and there will be enough class time to complete them.  If, however, an assignment is incomplete by the end of class, students will be required to finish the remaining work after the completion of the school day for homework.
-Incomplete Assignments:
You will be given an opportunity to complete the work by a specific deadline, but after that deadline, if an assignment is still incomplete, it is graded as is.

-Missing Assignments:
LATE – DAY 1 → Points will be taken off.
LATE – DAY 2 → More points will be taken off and (an) additional consequence(s) will be discussed and implemented.
LATE -  DAY 3 → No credit for the assignment will be received.
4. All work must be done with 100% effort.
-Always try your BEST!  Producing work of QUALITY is expected.  I believe in what you have to offer!
5.  Remember to be a positive example of our class and our school.
-Follow the school rules.
-Demonstrate good behavior outside of our classroom: at your specials, during lunchtime, at assemblies, and on field trips.
-Walk quietly in the hallway.
6.  Be prepared for class.
-Have all of your supplies nearby (ie. Chromebook, sharpened pencils, notebooks, etc.).
-Be ready to begin your day or class period as soon as it starts.
1. Attendance:
-Daily attendance is MANDATORY.
-All virtual learners should sign into Homeroom by 8:25 a.m. every morning.
-Students coming to school will sign into Homeroom as well, yet this will be facilitated by the teacher when they arrive at school.
2. Digital Citizenship:
-Only work on the assignments given to you.
-Only visit the websites your teacher has shown you.
-Complete work on your own, to your best ability. Do NOT copy and paste information from the Internet. This is called PLAGIARISM.  Believe in your own original work and what you can produce, because it can be amazing!
3. Focused and Purposeful Learning:
-Set up your device in a place that is QUIET and as free of distractions as possible. For example, setting up your device in the living room with the TV on will not help you learn!
-Avoid distractions such as responding to friends' emails or Hangout chats during class time.
4. Google Meets - Productive Community:
-Be ready for scheduled Google Meets a few minutes EARLY so we can start on time.  Google Meets are MANDATORY.  Many of these Meets will be the time for our entire class to come together as one!
-Again, find a QUIET place free from distractions and limit movement to avoid causing a distraction to others.
-Cameras MUST be ON so dress appropriately, maintain eye-contact, and refrain from chewing gum, eating, or drinking.  Also, sitting in a chair at a table or a desk is required.
-Microphones MUST be OFF (unless called on by the teacher).  If you have a question, you may raise your hand until called on.
-You MUST remain in the Google Meet until the teacher dismisses you or points will be deducted from participation.  If you need to leave for the restroom, you should follow normal school rules.
5. Gmail - Responsive Communication:
-Check your GMAIL frequently for all notifications such as, emails, comments on Google Documents, and more to keep up-to-date on all classroom happenings and your personal progress.
-If a teacher is reaching out to you in a private post or on your digital documents, you MUST REPLY and use your best efforts to work with your teacher.  We are here to help you and look forward to collaborating with you!
-When a teacher emails you, you MUST not only respond back but also reply appropriately. For instance, if a teacher emails you reminding you to complete assignments, you will reply as such:

Dear Miss/Ms./Mrs./Mr. _____________,

Thank you for letting me know which assignments I need to complete. I will finish them by the end of the day.

Sincerely,

First name, Last Name

*These are reminders of our school safety rules for this year.  These expectations apply to all students in Highland.
1. Masks and/or humanity shields are required and must be worn AT ALL TIMES.
-Regular shields are allowed only with a mask. Gators, bandanas, and masks with valves are not allowed.
2. Social distancing should be consciously and consistently practiced.
-Student desks will be 6 feet apart and paired up.  Students will never sit at the same desk as another student each day.
-Students should stay at their desks during class time and either ask a teacher before moving to other locations in the classroom or wait for teacher instruction (ie. going to closets, walking to another class, leaving for the restroom, etc.).
-Hallways will have designated routes that students must abide by when traveling (directional arrows and lines).
3. Cleanliness is important.
-Students will wipe down their desk upon entrance and exit of classroom even if all clean (good habits).
-Each classroom has a hand sanitizer pump station that should be used when necessary.
4. General hygiene guidelines:
-When sneezing, a student will try to get to a sanitization station, slide his/her mask down, sneeze into 2 tissues, discard, sanitize hands, and put mask back on. (Students who can not make it to station and sneeze into the mask will be provided an opportunity to go to the bathroom, clean up, sanitize and put on a new mask.)
-When coughing, a student should cough into his/her mask.
