What you will wear/use:
An insulin pump that has a tubing connected to the body.
The Dexcom G6 glucose sensor (no finger pricks required).
A compatible Android Phone to run the CAMS APS FX algorithm
from via an APP - You are required to buy one of these, we cannot supply a phone.
The pros:
·
Can be used from 1 year of age.
There is an insulin pump cart, which means you do not need to draw up the insulin into a reservoir.
·
Very simple to use. The system automatically calculates
and updates the basal rates and correction factors. All that needs updating are
the carb ratios occasionally.
·
The research shows this system on average gets good
improvements in time in range, between 4.0-10.0mmol/L, getting 70-75% on average.
·
Uses the Dexcom G6 which is the most accurate sensor.
·
You can bolus from the phone, so no need to get your pump out.
·
If the algorithm gets updated, you will get the
update via the APP
The cons:
·
Need a compatible Android phone that always
stays within 6 meters. Your phone must always be by your side.
·
The pump has a tubing and must stay connected to
the body almost all the time.
